Summary

Following on from the bestselling The Seven Sisters and The Storm Sister, The Shadow Sister is the third book in Lucinda Riley's spellbinding series, loosely based on the mythology of the Seven Sisters star cluster。 Star D'Apliese is at a crossroads in her life after the sudden death of her beloved father - the elusive billionaire, named Pa Salt by his six daughters, all adopted by him from the four corners of the world。 He has left each of them a clue to their true heritage, but Star - the most enigmatic of the sisters - is hesitant to step out of the safety of the close relationship she shares with her sister CeCe。 In desperation, she decides to follow the first clue she has been left, which leads her to an antiquarian bookshop in London, and the start of a whole new world 。 。 。 A hundred years earlier, headstrong and independent Flora MacNichol vows she will never marry。 She is happy and secure in her home in the Lake District, living close to her idol, Beatrix Potter, when machinations outside of her control lead her to London, and the home of one of Edwardian society's most notorious players, Alice Keppel。 Flora is pulled between passionate love and duty to her family, but finds herself a pawn in a game - the rules of which are only known to others, until a meeting with a mysterious gentleman unveils the answers that Flora has been searching for her whole life 。 。 。 As Star learns more of Flora's incredible journey, she too goes on a voyage of discovery, finally stepping out of the shadow of her sister and opening herself up to the possibility of love。 Author BiographyLucinda Riley was born in Ireland, and after an early career as an actress in film, theatre and television, wrote her first book aged twenty-four。 Lucinda is currently writing The Seven Sisters series, which tells the story of adopted sisters and is based allegorically on the mythology of the famous star constellation。 The first five books, The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister, The

Obviously the book was splendid with all the different stories and timelines。 I loved Star because she surprised me。 I thought she was the kind of person with an « easy and tame » character but she was really not。 She just didn’t used spoken words。 I’m curious about reading Cece’s story because until know she seems a bit selfish 。。 And everyone, including Cece, thinks that Star needs Cece because she is a quiet person, but it is really the other way around。I gave it 4 stars because the end was a Obviously the book was splendid with all the different stories and timelines。 I loved Star because she surprised me。 I thought she was the kind of person with an « easy and tame » character but she was really not。 She just didn’t used spoken words。 I’m curious about reading Cece’s story because until know she seems a bit selfish 。。 And everyone, including Cece, thinks that Star needs Cece because she is a quiet person, but it is really the other way around。I gave it 4 stars because the end was a big too long than what I’m used to from the orher books。 。。。more

Az Árnyéknővér sajnos nincs versenyben a kedvenc kötetem a sorozatból képzeletbeli díjra, mert a szereplők közül sokat nem igazán tudtam megszeretni a hosszas semlegesség után sem (például Egér, Orlando), ugyanakkor Flora fia és az ő későbbi szála talán a legnagyobb meglepetés volt számomra, emiatt érzelmekből jeles a regény。

Totally loved it, maybe because I love the Lake District so much I found this one the best yet。

As I close the last page of this book, and sigh, sad that it has come to an end, but happy that I have a few more waiting in the wings, I realise that this is quite an undertaking by Lucinda Riley。 I also realise that the whole premise actually makes for some very contrived circumstances, but it doesn't take away any of my enjoyment in the series。 This one was even better than the previous two。 It's gentler and reflects the quietest of the sisters' personality very well。 I'm not sure that Beatri As I close the last page of this book, and sigh, sad that it has come to an end, but happy that I have a few more waiting in the wings, I realise that this is quite an undertaking by Lucinda Riley。 I also realise that the whole premise actually makes for some very contrived circumstances, but it doesn't take away any of my enjoyment in the series。 This one was even better than the previous two。 It's gentler and reflects the quietest of the sisters' personality very well。 I'm not sure that Beatrix Potter's inclusion as a character is totally necessary, but it makes a lovely interlude nonetheless。 The other historical aspect, that of King Edward VII and Alice Keppel, is very interesting and had me googling for more information。 I'm now looking forward to CeCe's story, and hope I'm not disappointed as my expectation is now growing with each instalment。 。。。more

。。。more
